Front Cover Collections
I have used these magazines for my mood board so i can compare a magazine of my genre and a different genre so i can take inspiration from it. I have also used these so i can follow the conventions of a hip-hop magazine.

Target Audience and Brand Identity
The genre of music that my magazine will be is Hip-Hop. As it
is a genre of music that has a large following, large amounts of music artists
and it is my preferred genre of music.
This genre of music generally appeals more to teenagers and
people in their early 20’s. However, there are people of all ages that like
this genre.
I am going to make people want to read it by including other
artists that are popular like Drake or the Weeknd. I would include clothing
offers in magazine, the charts for the week, offers to win things like signed
albums or signed posters.
I want my magazine to be an informative music magazine that
tells the reader about the artist, songs, albums what they have done and how
they have done it. I have taken some inspiration from Billboard Magazine who
tend to cover lots of different artists although they tend to cover pop music
they do on occasions cover artists from other genres. I would use this magazine
as a main inspiration as it is very popular and is very renowned so I believe
it to be a good inspiration. I think that the main thing that you would see in
my magazine would be about music artist, new song that have come out, popular
songs, clothing and other things related to Hip-Hop. For the Style of my
Magazine I would have more of an informal style as I feel it would appeal more
to my target audience, if it was in more of a formal style it may deter
teenagers from wanting to read it.

Evaluation
Evaluation
Who would be the
audience for your media product?
The Audience for my Magazine would be students of
Plantsbrook school who would be between the ages of 11 and 16 as I won’t
include sixth formers in my target audience as I don’t believe they will be as
interested in a magazine as those from younger years. I also won’t make it
orientated around parents as I believe that if students feel as though its more
orientated around them it will create a better interest in school activities
and parents have things like the newsletter which is more formal and less enticing for students. Also I have constructed my school magazine around
Plantsbrook School but making it appear more informal which may appeal to the
students.
What have you learnt
about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I feel that throughout my time creating my magazine I have
built up a better understanding of programs such as Adobe Fireworks CS3. When I
initially used Fireworks it seemed alien in comparison to programs that I was
used to using such as PowerPoint 2016. But after a couple of lessons I felt
comfortable with the software and felt as though I had built up a greater
understanding of the software, which in turn meant that my coursework had
drastically improved and I was able to go back through some of my initial
designs and create better versions of them that look more aesthetically
pleasing.
In what ways does
your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of school
magazines?
I feel as though my magazine develops and challenges the
regular conventions of a school magazine; for instance, in one of my magazines
I have got a small masthead in the top left of the magazine but most school
magazines have a large masthead that spans the top of the page or at least two
thirds of it, I have done this as I feel like it makes it appear to be more
unique which would in turn make it more recognisable. But I do follow the
conventions of a magazine as I have included pictures on my front cover of
students working, I have done this as I believe it gives the students a
positive message about lessons.
